Ferrari 166MM Spyder
Le Mans 24 Hour 1949 - Winner - Chinetti/Selsdon
Art Model item 011

This is a rare collectors model in 1:43 scale by Art Model of Italy, brand new in original packaging, Art Model item number 011.

This is a very significant early Ferrari barchetta, a Touring bodied 166MM chassis number 0008M. Initially a Scuderia Ferrari race car, it won the 1948 Mille Miglia driven by Clemente Biondetti and Ettore Salani. In 1949 it was sold to Lord Selsdon (Hon. Peter Mitchell-Thompson) in the UK and together with Luigi Chinetti they entered and won the 1949 Le Mans 24 Hour, the first Le Mans to be run since the break for the second World War. They covered 13,492 kilometres in the 24 hours, and average speed of 132.42 kmh.

The 166MM featured Ferrari's 2 litre V12 engine which produced around 140 bhp. Drive was through a five speed gearbox and live rear axle. The 650 kg Barchetta had a top speed of around 170 kmh.

This model features accurate photo etched wire wheels with correct profile race tyres. The Ferrari red body is very nicely proportioned and depicts the original car very accurately. Other features include rear view mirror, aero windscreens, photo etched grilles plus all the correct badges, vents and race markings.

The interior is also beautifully done, with woodrim steering wheel with photo etched spokes, fully detailed dashboard and instrument panel with all controls and other features shown, gearshift lever, bucket seats and door trims.

Art Model items come mounted on a black plastic plinth in a clear plastic display box with outer cardboard window box. This item is brand new in original unmarked packaging.
