GP di Montecarlo 1952 - Eugenio Castellotti Art Model item 092 |
|
Rare collectors model in 1:43 scale by Art Model of Italy, brand new in original packaging, Art Model item number 092. This is a finely detailed model of the Ferrari 225S Touring bodied Spyder (chassis number 0166ED). The 225S was only produced in very limited numbers, with only 15 Spyders and 6 Berlinettas being made. This car was purchased by Eugenio Castellotti in 1952. He campaigned the car extensively in his two year tenure, with wins at his first outing in March 1952 at the Coppa d'Oro di Sicilia, then the GP of Portugal and in May 1953 the Trofeo Sardo. In between he had dnf's at the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio and he played a significant role in the Ferrari victory at Montecarlo in 1952 where 225S Spyders took out first to fifth placings. This model portrays his car as it placed second in that event. The model features fine photo etched wire wheels with spun aluminium rims, knock off hubs and correct profile tyres, a fully detailed interior with bucket seats, door trims, rear view mirror, gearshift, fully detailed dashboard and instrument panel, woodrim steering wheel with photo etched metal spokes and Ferrari horn button, windscreen with photo etched frame, clutch, brake and accelerator pedals plus lots of fine photo etchings for the panel catches and grilles. Other external details include all correct badges and filler caps. The underside of the model is also detailed with some chassis detail, engine sump, transmission and exhaust system. This is a truly magnificent model of one of the all time classic racing Ferrari spyders. Art Model items come mounted on a black plastic plinth in a clear plastic display box with outer cardboard window box. This item is brand new in original unmarked packaging. |
