This is a rare collectors model in 1:43 scale by Art Model of Italy, brand new in original packaging, Art Model item number 095.

This is a finely detailed model of the Scaglietti bodied Ferrari 290MM Spyder. Ferrari only produced 4 of these pretty little spyders in 1956 and they were all raced extensively. They were bodied by Scaglietti and powered by the 3.4 litre V12 engine giving 350 bhp at 7200 rpm. They featured a four speed gearbox, ZF limited slip differential and a tubular chassis of only 2.35 metre wheelbase with double wishbone front suspension and De Dion rear, and performance was spectacular for their time with a kerb weight of only 880 kg.

This model represents chassis number 0606, which won the GP of Sweden for Scuderia Ferrari before being sold on to Jacques Swaters for his Ecurie Francorchamps race team. One of its many further appearances was at the hands of Willy Mairesse in the Daily Express Trophy Race at Silverstone in September 1957 where he placed fifth ouright.

Art Models are collectors items, made in diecast metal and using many other materials for detailing. This model features fine photo etched wire wheels with spun aluminium rims, knock off hubs and Engelbert race tyres, a fully detailed interior with bucket seats, door trims, rear view mirror, gearshift, fully detailed dashboard and instrument panel, woodrim steering wheel with photo etched metal spokes and Ferrari horn button, windscreen with photo etched frame, clutch, brake and accelerator pedals plus lots of fine photo etchings for the panel catches and grilles.

Other external details include all correct badges and filler caps. The underside of the model is also detailed with some chassis detail, engine sump, transmission and exhaust system. This is a truly magnificent model of one of the all time classic racing Ferrari spyders.

Art Model items come mounted on a black plastic plinth in a clear plastic display box with outer cardboard window box. This item is brand new in original unmarked packaging.
