Ferrari 250 California Spyder
Nassau Speed Week 1960 - Wolfgang von Trips
Art Model item 167

This is a rare collectors model in 1:43 scale by Art Model of Italy, brand new in original packaging, Art Model item number 167.

This is a model of the Ferrari 250 California Spyder chassis number 1699GT. It was sold in 1960 by Luigi Chinetti to Ferrari enthusiast and racer Robert Publicker. Publicker entered the car in the Sebring 12 Hour endurance race, which was round two of the 1960 World Championship for Sports Cars. His co-drivers were George Constantine and Dean McCarthy and they finished tenth outright and sixth in class. The only other race start for 1699GT was later that year when Wolfgang von Tripps drove it to 14th outright at the Nassau Speed Week races.

The 250 California Spyder uses the three litre 60 degree V12 engine which produces between 240 and 280 bhp. Chassis is conventional with a tubular frame, double wishbone front suspension and a live axle on leaf springs at the rear. With a kerb weight of around 1000kg the Spyder reaches a top speed of around 250 kmh.

This model features accurate photo etched wire wheels with correct profile race tyres. The Ferrari red body is very nicely proportioned and depicts the original car very accurately. Other features include rear view mirror, aero screens, photo etched wipers, photo etched grilles plus all the correct badges, vents and race markings.

The interior is also beautifully done, with woodrim steering wheel with photo etched spokes, fully detailed dashboard and instrument panel with all controls and other features shown, gearshift lever, bucket seats, roll cage and fully detailed door trims with handles, winders and door pulls.

Art Model items come mounted on a black plastic plinth in a clear plastic display box with outer cardboard window box. This item is brand new in original unmarked packaging.
