GP of Cuba 1957 - Eugenio Castelloti Art Model item 174 |
|
This is a rare collectors model in 1:43 scale by Art Model of Italy, brand new in original packaging, Art Model item number 174. This is a finely detailed model of the Scaglietti bodied Ferrari 860 Monza. Ferrari only produced 2 of these pretty little spyders in 1956. They were bodied by Scaglietti and powered by a twin cam 3.4 litre engine giving 280 bhp at 6000 rpm. This was a stroked version of the earlier 750 Monza engine. They featured a five speed gearbox, ZF limited slip differential and a tubular chassis of only 2.35 metre wheelbase with double wishbone front suspension and De Dion rear, and performance was spectacular for their time with a kerb weight of only 860 kg. This model represents the first 860 Monza chassis number 0602M. Initially a works race car it competed in various events in 1956 such as the Sebring 12 hr, Mille Miglia, Nurburgring 1000km, Rouen and Swedish GPs and the Targa Florio before being sold to Alfonso de Portago. He entered it in various events including the GP of Cuba where it was driven by Eugenio Castelloti. This is the version of the car portrayed in this model. Art Models are collectors items, made in diecast metal and using many other materials for detailing. This model features fine photo etched wire wheels with spun aluminium rims, knock off hubs and Pirelli Stelvio race tyres, a fully detailed interior with bucket seats, door trims, rear view mirror, gearshift, fully detailed dashboard and instrument panel, woodrim steering wheel with photo etched metal spokes and Ferrari horn button, aero screen, clutch, brake and accelerator pedals plus lots of fine photo etchings for the panel catches and grilles. Other external details include all correct badges and filler caps. The underside of the model is also detailed with some chassis detail, engine sump, transmission and exhaust system. This is a truly magnificent model of one of the all time classic racing Ferrari spyders. Art Model items come mounted on a black plastic plinth in a clear plastic display box with outer cardboard window box. This item is brand new in original unmarked packaging. |
