Buenos Aires Sports Car GP 1951 #6 Jim Kimberly Art Model item 182 |
|
This is a new release collectors model in 1:43 scale by Art Model of Italy, brand new in original packaging, Art Model item number 182. This is a finely detailed model of the Touring bodied Ferrari 195S Coupe. This car started life as a 166MM and was converted by the factory to 195S specs. It was powered by the V12 engine giving 145 bhp and driving through a five speed non synchro gearbox. It was first seen at the Geneva Motor show of 1950, and was then sold to Luigi Chinetti who entered it in the 1950 Le Mans 24 Hour. It was also briefly owned by Franco Cornacchia before he sold it to Briggs Cunningham. Cunningham raced it extensively in 1951, and it is modelled here as it ran in the Buenos Aires Sports Car GP in that year where it won its class in the hands of Jim Kimberly. The car then passed on to many owners including Road and Track correspondent Henry Manney who actually owned it twice! Art Models are collectors items, made in diecast metal and using many other materials for detailing. This model features fine photo etched wire wheels with spun aluminium rims, knock off hubs and correct profile race tyres, a fully detailed interior with bucket seats, door trims, rear view mirror, gearshift, fully detailed dashboard and instrument panel, woodrim steering wheel with photo etched metal spokes and Ferrari horn button, aero screen, clutch, brake and accelerator pedals plus lots of fine photo etchings for the panel catches and grilles. Other external details include all correct badges and filler caps. The underside of the model is also detailed with some chassis detail, engine sump, transmission and exhaust system. This is a truly magnificent model of one of the all time classic racing Ferraris. Art Model items come mounted on a black plastic plinth in a clear plastic display box with outer cardboard window box. This item is brand new in original unmarked packaging. |
