This is a rare collectors model in 1:43 scale by Ebbro of Japan, brand new in original packaging, Ebbro item number 43636. The Japanese Grand Prix in the late sixties was a sports car event which was a battlefield between Prince/Nissan, Porsche and Toyota. The 1968 event was run on May 3rd and was won by a Chev V8 powered Nissan R381. The Porsche Carrera 6 modelled here was very fast but unfortunately failed to finish. It was entered by Taki Racing Team. The Carrera 6 or 906 was very light at only 580kg, mainly due to its tubular spaceframe chassis and lightweight fibreglass body. It was fitted with a carburetted version of the 2.0 litre race engine giving 220 bhp for a top speed of around 280 kmh. This model features accurate race wheels with correct profile Bridgestone race tyres. The body is very nicely proportioned and depicts the original car very accurately. Other features include windscreen wiper, rear view mirrors, filler caps, exhaust system plus all the correct race markings, vents and grilles. The interior is also very well done, with steering wheel, fully detailed dashboard and instrument panel, gearshift and handbrake lever, some engine details visible through the rear plexiglass cover and proper bucket style race seats. Ebbro models are amongst the finest 1:43 scale models of their type available. Detail and finish are absolutely top class and second to none in this price range. All are limited editions, this item being one of only 3000 pieces originally produced for worldwide distribution. This item is brand new in original unmarked packaging. |
