This is a rare collectors model in 1:43 scale by Ebbro of Japan, brand new in original packaging, Ebbro item number 43650.

Hino is one of the oldest vehicle manufacturers in Japan, tracing its roots back to 1913 when its founding companies started production of trucks. The original Tokyo Gas and Electric Companies underwent various mergers and reformations and the Hino name eventually appeared in 1942. Car production started in the early fifties building Renaults under licence.

The Contessa was a rebodied Renault R8 and in 1964 it was restyled by the Italian master Michelotti and given a 1300cc engine which in the coupe version developed 70bhp. Hino car production stopped a few years later in 1967 when they were merged with the Toyota group.

This model features accurate wheels with proper profile whitewall tyres and plated hubcaps, and a nicely modelled body finished in authentic Ivory White that captures the shape and stance of the original car perfectly. Other features include finely moulded window frames, photo etched windscreen wipers, external rear view mirrors, plated bumpers and all correct external vents, grilles and badges.

The interior is also very well done, with sports steering wheel and column switches, detailed woodgrain dashboard and instrument panel with all controls and other features shown, rear view mirror, central floor mounted gearshift lever and handbrake, detailed door trims with all correct handles, window winders and armrests plus proper contoured and coloured seats.

Ebbro models are amongst the finest 1:43 scale models of their type available. Detail and finish are absolutely top class and second to none in this price range.
