This is a rare collectors model in 1:43 scale by Rio of Italy, brand new in original packaging, Rio item number 4193.

Citroen have always been quick to provide vehicles for special occasions and French dignitaries, and this funeral car is a good example. In 1968 they supplied this vehicle for the funeral of Padre Pio, who among other things was instrumental in setting up the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza in 1956. He was canonized in 2002.

This model is a numbered limited edition, number 487 of only 500 pieces made for worldwide distribution.

This Rio model features accurate steel wheels with plated hubcaps and proper profile tyres, and a nicely modelled body finished in gleaming gloss black that captures the shape and stance of the original car perfectly. Other features include plated window frames and door handles, photo etched windscreen wipers, plated trims and bumpers, radio aerials, photo etched grilles and all correct external markings and badges. It is accompanied by the figure of Pope John giving the car his blessing.

The interior is also very well done, with the signature single spoke steering wheel and column switches, detailed dashboard and instrument panel with all controls and other features shown, gearshift lever, rear view mirror and proper contoured and coloured seats.

Rio models are made in diecast metal and are all 1:43 scale. This item is brand new in original unmarked packaging.
